About NIST 800-171
NIST SP 800-171 is a set of cybersecurity rules made by the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) to protect sensitive Federal information. It applies to nonfederal information systems and organizations that process, store, transmit, or protect Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI) for Federal agencies). It provides guidelines on how CUI should be securely accessed, transmitted, and stored. It is a contractual requirement for contractors, vendors, suppliers, and other entities that work with the Federal government.
